I could never kill a cow.

"Downed Cow: This story will change your life."

Deb has been considering becoming vegetarian for a bit & told me tonight that she has officially decided to. The turning point for her was a story that she read in a PETA catalog while she and Jesse where dinning at a vegan restaurant in SLC. She shared the story with me & I found the article on line. I read the article and am completely horrified & very saddened. I've made a personal decision to follow a new rule as to what I will eat. My new guide line is: If I could kill the animal myself then I will eat it. I've already cleaned out my pantry of all food containing meat. I had a grand total of 6 cans of different soups & stews. I marched the 6 cans upstairs and gave them to my neighbors.
I've also taken the PETA pledge to explore vegetarianism for at least 30 days. You can take this pledge at the PETA website under "30 Day Veg Pledge" if you're interested. I feel really good about this decision & I'll let ya'll know how this life change goes.
If you're interested in the article the title "Downed Cow" & the picture are links so just click on them.

  1. Okay...I have this rule with my kids that if they kill it, they have to eat it. That pretty much solved the problem of Jens wanting to shoot tweety birds with his BB gun just for kicks. So you need to check out the post that I am going to put on today about what Jens killed and ATE! I wanted to die! Check later on to see what it was....
