Truvy was right!

"Time marches on and sooner or later you realize it is marchin across your face." -Truvy from "Steel Magnolias"

Yesterday I had an event happen that confirmed the wisdom and truth of the above quote. I'm so torn up by this occasion that I must tell you all about it.
First a memory: Growing up I recall many things about my Grandmother some pleasant, some not so pleasant. The specific memory that I am referring to here is her sitting in a chair, the muscles of her chin strained so that her chin stuck up & out. In one hand she would be holding a hand held mirror. The other hand would be occupied by a pair of tweezers. She would sit like this ready & focused. All this was to accomplish but one task....chin whisker removal! Growing up I didn't give much thought to this ritual. It was just something that Gram did. Then a few years back while in Missouri for my brother's wedding I recall my mom doing this exact same thing. I thought, "oh no, it must be genetic." Apparently as the women in my family age we start growing these very course whisker like hairs out of our chins. How unsightly! Of course these offending hairs must be removed straight away. Here is the worst part of this whole horrid tale. Brace yourself. Ya ready for it? Yesterday I found my first chin whisker!! Oh, the trauma! I'm way to young for this. I'll only be 33 next month for God sakes! I found my first gray hair a short 3 years ago and now I have to deal with chin whiskers! What genetic defect does this all stem from? Don't worry I removed the offending whisker the moment I found it, but alas I know it will return & I'm sure it will bring along friends. I'm way too young for this!!

  2. Well be happy about two things:

    1. Your a blond. Light chin whiskers

    2. You have hair

    3. You didn't go gray at 24 like me. I have a tendency to have beautiful Pierce Brosnon like wings that appear on the sides every now and then
