As everyone knows who knows me I don't have TV. The beauty part is that actually isn't true at all. Thanks to the very generous Melissa & Andy Spencer I do have a TV. They also gave me the very computer that I type all of my wonderful blog posts on. Without the Spencers the world would never have discovered how fabulous my life is. "Fabulous" can also be read as "boring," just for clarification purposes.

Anyway, back to the TV. I do have a TV, it's just not connected to any television providing source. Don't fret, the TV is connected to a VCR & until last weekend a DVD player. I don't watch a lot of movies on a regular basis but on occasion I enjoy a crazy movie marathon such as the one I had this weekend. These movie marathons happen once every 2 or 3 months-ish. This weekend I watched 6.5 movies. I say 6.5 cause I didn't get to finish the last movie. My DVD player has had issues for along time. It's main issue was freezing during a film. While this was very annoying I usually could get it to stop freezing long enough to finish a movie most of the time. All well & fine in my book until this last weekend when it decided it had played it's last dvd.
Now I'm left with a huge decision: Should I buy a new DVD player? I don't anticipate that I will be in a movie marathon mood again for quite some time but it's nice to know that I
can watch a movie if I want to. Now I don't even have the option.
I've scoped out DVD player online & in the weekly adds. It looks like DVD players are going for around $30 these days. My dilemma is that $30 is a fair amount of money to me & watching a movie is not a necessity one can't live without. So I ask all my faithful blog followers. Should I buy a new DVD player now or wait until I feel another movie marathon coming on? Grrr....I'm so not good with such decisions. What do you think?
I say get a jar, put your spare change, and when you have 30 dollars buy it. You never know when you need to watch a movie. And a dollar here or there is easier then 30 bucks up front.
ReplyDeleteHey there semi sis-in-law!! It's Michelle from TN. I love this site & especially the fact that you can write anonymously. I may just have to start my own. Too much family on my facebook & I can't cuss & express my true thoughts with them reading everything I post:)
ReplyDeleteAnyway here's my free 2 cents on the DVD player...
If your web surfing morals are halfway in the gutter like mine have been lately you don't need a TV or a DVD player at all. You can watch anything you'd ever wanna watch right on your computer via streaming video. Apparently it isn't illegal to watch streaming, only to download. Check out the following sites before you spend your money.

www.quickflicks.now
www.movie25.com (my fav)
www.ninjavideo.net (have to download their video player to use this site)

Hum... I think...
ReplyDeleteI have an extra DVD player that you can have if you come to SLC-- So, I will hold it hostage until I get to meet Mr. Mo Stevens... Then you can have it if you want it.
Agreed?
Heather, I have tried to do this once before, but can't get it to post/send to you. I am trying this again.
ReplyDeleteYou can get just about anything through the computer these days. I would try it...We have watched some programs we missed this way. We are old fashioned (as you know) and (electronically handicapped) so we don't have T-voe...or anything that records the TV. So this summer I tried this and it worked. I am going to pull up Oprah and watch, in horror, the Mackenzie Phillips interview. (maybe)
